Here is a peculiar thing that happened to me while recording. I was using Nuendo 2.0 and i was doing some work with a song that was mixed down to a single track in stereo, however there were no drums, just vocals, piano, bass, and guitar. It was all on a single track and in stereo (i was given what was essentially a 'minus drums' copy... think of it that way for all intents and purposes).

The funny thing that happened was when i was recording, on playback (a few times this happened) the single track of instruments somehow seemed to separate and i could hear piano and guitar by themself as if i soloed them, however, the tracks were all on one track

I can't figure out how the tracks are being separated like this... this is a curious glitch that i am experiencing. Also, it was very clean, just like i hit the track solo button. I put it through Sound Forge after this to check and see how it was mixed down into stereo and see if that had anything to do with it... in both right and left channels, the vocals and bass are there so it isn't just soloing a right or left channel by accident, something else is going on. How is the Nuendo program accidently "picking out" and soloing these certain tracks from a single stereo track?

I haven't experienced this before, seems quite strange to me... bet Randy could help on this one

do you have an individual track soloed by mistake? are there tracks being bussed to a sub out instead of your main stereo mix?
These would be just a few things off the top of my head to look at.
are there by chance any midi instruments going on?
otherwise, forget what i mentioned above, snce i just reread your post.......sounds bizarre to me.
Not very familiar with Nuendo, I'm a Sonar/Vegas user. I do use SoundForge for edits though.

Yeah, it is very weird... i don't have the individual tracks at all, i only have the mix down of the instruments to a single track. What i am using is actually just from a CD the people i am working with gave me, there is no logical reason that a glitch could do that, but it is doing that regardless. Essentially i just put a CD in and burned it to a single track and somehow a glitch is soloing some of the tracks, but there is only ONE TRACK, somehow it split it so that i can only hear the piano and guitar, and occasionally then it will 'magically' work again and the vocals pop back in, along with the bass. It isn't the CD because it was working fine for the first 20 times i played it... i can't, for the life of me, figure it out. Shouldn't be able to do that... weird

As far as Nuendo, it is a great program but it can't do the impossible, like mysteriously go in and split tracks up and single out tracks and exclude others from a mastered, single stereo track; which is why i am weirded out on why that is going on

I wish i could make it do that consistantly because i would burn it like that and post it so you could hear what it is doing, it is a trip to hear

do you have soundforge>? why don't you extract the audio from the cd using SF and then import the file into Nuendo........
